Dr Swank, Dr Gregor and Dr McDougall
engineerguy posted:
Hi folks,

Dr. Roy Swank was a medical researcher, published in New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, AMA Archives of Neurology and Psychiatry and others.

I searched this site for posts mentioning the Swank diet. I saw some from 2 years ago. CrystalCity posted that she was diagnosed with MS 25 years earlier, adopted the Swank diet, followed it pretty well, and a recent MRI showed minimal lesions and minimal diability for a person after 25 years of MS.

Dr. Gregor has an interesting short 8 minute video, quoting many papers by Dr. Swank, published in medical journals, concerning MS.(1)

Dr Gregor describes success of the Swank diet, as well as a study to be published in April 2014, run by Dr. McDougall.

I do not have MS. For the last 6 years, I myself have followed the Dr Fuhrman Eat To Live diet, which is similar to Dr. McDougall's program. I previously followed Pritikin, for 30 years, very similar to McDougall. My interest is to prevent heart disease and diabetes, which run in my family, and avoid dimentia. Other similar programs include Dr Dean Ornish, Dr Esselstyn ( - which is the most effective study for treatment of heart disease ever published in a medical journal), Pritikin, Dr. Neal Bernard, and increasingly many others. The success of one program supports the success of all.

If anyone would like to discuss more, I am generally on the Heart Health Fuhrman Ornish WebMD site.(2)

Best regards, EngineerGuy
