How far are you traveling to deliver?
    lydenjennifer posted:
I really want to deliver naturally at a birthing center. The only problem is the nearest one is 2 hours away. Has anyone traveled this far? What are your opinions? Would that be too far?

the only issue I see is convenience as far as others visiting you and if your DH wanted/needed to go home before you and the baby do.

If this is your first, most first babies come many hours after active labor begins. If this isn't your first and you have a history of fast labor, that might not be a good idea.

We lived 20 minutes from the primary hospital and 5 minutes from a satellite if there was an emergency. From the decision to go the hospital, it was about 2 hours before I reached a labor room and 5 more before DS (child 2) was born.

I live 45 mins from the nearest health center there is nothing from me to that hospital...just fields! Just make sure to plan well so you dont end up having a backseat birth!
    ButterflyBaby1107 responded:
I had to go about an hour to my hospital. I was really worried about getting to the hospital. It wasn't a problem. Labor takes a long time. I could have stayed home a couple more hours and still had plenty of time to spare. just make sure you talk to your doctor and tell them how far your travel time is-they can advise you
