Red irritation almost bleeding wet behind ears

My daughter is 4 months old. She still has Cradle Cap. I am not sure if this is related. So behind both her ears it is VERY red, looks raw even. If I touch it, it feels as if it is wet. If I leave it it gets crusty so I know its oozing something. I see it behind both ears as I have said. I whip it down a bit but haven't done anything else. Her Cradle Cap won't go away and I have been doing the baby oil and tooth brush thing. Is this related? It looks painful but she doesn't seem to be pulling at her ears. This is baby number 5 for me and I don't remember it ever being this bad if at all.

Could be a small infection. You may want to talk to your dr but 1% hydrocortizone cream is what my dr recommends for every rash my son has. You can buy it at any drugstore (totally works on red oozy drool, spit up rash under the chin)

As for the craddle cap. I bought Stella B "Craddle Cap Be Gone" shampoo and saw an improvement in a week. http://www.amazon.com/Bella-Gone-Cradle-Foaming-Shampoo/dp/B001W03ANQ/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1293563490&sr=8-1-fkmr0 It's a bit expensive but I'm only halfway through the bottle in over 8 months. I never tried the baby oil thing--right when I bought it, the shampoo worked it's magic.

my son had the exact same thing when he was that age...started around 3 months and I didnt get a firm diagnosis until the age of 6 months and a pedi change. His cradle cap mixed with a bad case of eczema.Because it was so bad,he had to take antibiotics 1st(which gave him rampant diareah, fun) and then they gave me a steriod cream for it.Id go to your pedi ASAP cuz more than likely it will get worse before it gets better

used Gentle Naturals Cradle Cap Care on my little girl and her cradle cap was gone in about 3-5 days. 3 treatments with that shampoo and I haven't had to use it again ever since as far as the ears go i'm not really sure

It sounds like a secondary infection. I would call your pedi and get the baby seen I bet they would want to start antbiotics. From the sound of it, it sounds infected vs just being irrittated.

It kind of sounds like impetigo which will not go away with just hydrocortisone. I would go in and have them look at it.

I know this is from a while ago but.. My baby had the same thing, it was caused by a gluten allergy, I stoped eating gluten (she was breast feeding) it started getting better almost emediatly, gone in 2 weeks. treat the problem, not the symptoms!
