Hello I am a PAL grad and I am just getting started on this community Wanted to introduce myself Im Marissa and I just had a baby 2 weeks ago named Tyler he is a big boy 9 lbs and doing good but I do have a couple questions I wanted to get other opinions about !!!
First is my baby since he was born has like constant yellow goo in his eye, his PED says its a blocked tear duct and will go away once he produces tears but its annoying and I feel so bad for the fella because I have to wipe it out like 10 times a day !!!! Anyone with experience on this ???
Also he is very gassy and I think Colic we switched his formula to sensitive and Im also Breastfeeding doing both. He hasn't pooped and has been really constipated .... He pooped Thursday didnt poop over the weekend so I gave him a suppository and he went Saturday but hasnt gone since ??? His PED doesn't seem at all concerned just says well it might be his pattern and just wants to ride it out ???

Remember that babies don't always poop everyday, as long as he is passing gas then he isn't truly constipated, my daughter used to go 3 to 4 days between pooping and the Dr said it was perfectly fine as long as she was passing gas.

My daughter and son both went as long as 10 days without pooping and were just fine. If babies are passing gas, their tummies aren't hard and aren't in obvious discomfort, they are fine. There is no need to poop every day.

mine had a clogged tear duct for 3 months we even did one round of antibiotic ointment and then one day it just went away i know it's a pain in the butt it will go away though just keep his eye cleaned out you could massage the tear duct to help it along, second unless he is straining to poop and crying in pain that isn't constipation just sounds like his normal bowel patterns I would lay off the suppositories also if he was constipated when he went they would be hard pellets coming out some breastfed babies can go ten days without pooping and that is totally normal

Hey marissa,
My DD2 had goop in her eye as well. I read a few things about how to get rid of it. I would try and squirt alittle breastmilk in her eye. Her eye would clear up in a day or two. I first would clean the eye with a warm wash cloth, then massage the eye, then the breastmilk. I would try and get it in the corner of her eye. Breastmilk as we all know has antibodies in it. But if you don't feel comfortable with it I would go a head and ask. But it worked for me. As for the BM I agree with all the girls. Enjoy your little one.
