Infant Dry Nasal Congestion

My grandson is 10 wks old and have had serious nasal congestion since coming home, now his eyes are matting while sleep. It brakes my heart how he struggles to breath, being that he does know to breath out of his mouth. His pediatrician said he could only have saline drops. There's a decongestion for infants by Little Noses which have only 1/8 the medication would this be safe. What about a small dose of Benadryl.

I would try and find the cause rather then giving him medication. Could it be an allergy? Is he formula fed?

Id be using a humidifier in his room at night and if you can get a big one for in the living room or whatever room he is in most often. Also the eye matting could be from his tear ducts if they werent fully formed, my daughter has that one eye has cleared up the other still drains.
