Epidural injected into vein.

4 4 hours priour to delievery my daughter was accidently injected with a epidural into the IV in her arm. 3 minutes latter her pulse was 190. 3 minutes latter she went into arrest. She was revived with the crash cart. What effect will this have on the baby as the chemical travels into the placienta? The baby was born with a heart murmur. We were told this is normal.

In a quick search I could not find any info on epidural drugs given in IV to the vein. I did find this general information which may be helpful in talking with her doctors and your grandchild's pediatrician to determine if there are any long term risks -

my son is 10 months old and he doesnt have a heart murmur its not totally uncommon but the hospital is not suppose to put the epidural in her arm it goes in the spine i had one with my son. the hospital messed up big time keep all the medical records and go to a Dr that is not associated with that group of Dr.s at all. that way you know your getting a honest opinion from them.
