Watery stools - 27 day old baby

My wife had a normal delivery on Oct 14, 2012. The baby girl's birth-weight was 3.2 kgs, which she seems to have recovered (she's at 3.6 right now), and length was 48 cms.

The paediatrician put the baby on Bonisan, Ossipan-D, and Z-Visyneral, a couple of days after birth.

The baby started passing frequent loose stools (2 or 3 times in an hour) on Sep 06, 2012. The doctor suggested a stool test (Routine/microscopic) which showed the "Pus Cells" as "4-6/hpf."

After this the above-mentioned medicines were stopped. As advised we started with Enterogermina (1/2+1/2 ampule twice daily), and Taxim-O (1.8 ml twice daily), on Sep 08, 2012.

The baby seemed alright on the night of the 8th but around 2000 hours on Sep 09, 2012, she started passing loose stools (Freq: 4 times in an hour). She did not accept any feed between 2000 and 2300 hours, but took feed at two-hourly intervals throughout the night (albeit after every 5 or 7 minutes, she would drift into sleep).

Today, the doctor suggested another stool for which the report is awaited.

The baby has only taken breast-feed since she was born, and no top or formula feed.

Hygiene is not an issue at all (though she may have put her hands in her mouth when the mittens were not on).

What should we do to ensure she gets back to normal.

Please advise, thanks!

Hello Phantomizer and Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl!

We are so sorry to hear your daughter and family are having these concerns.

Was she having symptoms of colic or any other problems? Why was she prescribed the three medications after birth?

Another question - Has your wife changed her diet?

Please keep us posted on how she is doing,
