Repetitive Hand Movement- 8 month old

My son just turned 8 months and recently he's been making these repetitive hand movements (opening and closing his fists) usually just his right hand, but sometimes both. I catch him doing it all the time, mostly when he's in his high chair. He's very social, smiles at everyone, laughs and babbles a lot, but he's been pretty slow to hit his milestones, he just recently started sitting and has yet to crawl or pull himself up. Is this a common thing with babies?

This is one of those times when a picture is worth a thousand words

I always encourage my patients to grab a quick video of these sorts of things with their phones and then bring it in to show me.

Hope that helps. Dr Dan
