Cleaning your baby's belly button
Jennifer Shu, MD posted:
Since belly buttons are in effect "dead ends" there is no real need to clean them, however, some parents do ask how to get any lint or remaining cord stump scabs out of the navel. If you do find the need to clean your baby's belly button, you can wipe it with the corner of a damp washcloth or alcohol swab but my favorite way is to gently twirl a Q-tip in the navel after bathing without going in too deep. If you have any other suggestions, please share. Thanks!
