Poems my 15yod wrote for English class

I was touched. I'm sure it won't matter to you, but I wanted to share so that you can see that even a 15yo can have deep feelings of familial bonds and familial traditions.

By Olivia
All dressed up in itchy purple and pink lace.
My head sore from sleeping in tight curlers the night before.
After my mother and father finally had coffee in their hands,
We could exit our rooms and see what the bunny brought.
I was seven.
Our eyes lit up the moment we saw the basktets full
Of goodies and sweets. Piled high with pixie sticks, and
chocolate eggs. Marshmallow peeps just calling our names.
My mother sat on the couch laughing at the excitement we received
From something as little as candy. I was seven.
Searching high and low for the dozens of colorful dyed Easter eggs.
I always found the most. Each time we saw a glimpse of blue, or
Green, we ran to its spot and added it to our collection.
My Dad acted all surprised when he saw us find a treasure. "Oohhh!
Good job girls! I see another one!" I was seven.
When our stomachs were filled to the brim with Easter brunch, and
Pounds of sugar, it was time to pile in the car, and go to church. I held
My new stuffed bunny, and my sister cuddled her yellow plush chick.
We turned on the radio to the Christian music station, and sang
All the way to Sunday school. I was seven.

Grandma Florence
By Olivia Johnson
My Grandma is drops of cool rain in the spring
She will always help to freshen the air
With the talent of the angels she silently sings
For me and my sisters she always will care
My Grandma is the delicate buds of roses
Just waiting, and waiting for the sun
She hugs us tightly and tickles our noses
With her, every summer is so much fun
My Grandma is sun tea that cools our throats
Rocking solemnly on her front porch chair
The holy bible is what she devotes
In the summer breeze blows her silver hair
Her home is a place for kisses, and love
I hope she never leaves to the heavens above.

She's very talented! :) Those are great poems. When I was in middle school, 8th grade, I wrote some very great poems like that too and was asked to have them published. I never followed through with it, but the one I wrote about my great grandmother about 6 months or so before she passed away, so my mom told my grandmother and they had me read it at the funeral. I'm tearing up thinking about it now lol. :)

Have her write them in a journal and keep them somewhere. I only had 2 poems that I ever really loved, but it is great to still have them written down where I can look back at how talented I was way back when! :) HA!
