Breathing Difficulty after Tonsillectomy. Normal?

asogilvie posted:
I had a tonsillectomy this past Friday due to recurring infection. Since I woke up from the anesthetic, I have had difficulty breathing nasally when lying down, specifically when exhaling. Is it normal to have breathing problems after a tonsillectomy?

As an aside, I can breathe normally through my mouth (although it dries my throat) either sitting up or lying down. I can only breathe normally through my nose when sitting up. I currently sleep in an upright position.
