I am suffering. Please help.

I have a painful bump on the inside of my lower lip. It developed after I got hip in the face with a lacrosse ball (I am the goalie for a girls' lacrosse team), so I am sure that is the cause. When I was hit, a painful red welt developed on the outside of my lip in pretty much the same spot and at the same time that this bump on the inside of my lip did. A friend of mine suggested that I put honey on the welt to help the swelling go down, so I did and, sure enough, the welt went away within an hour. Obviously, the honey approach did not work on the inside of my lip as the saliva just washed it away. I tried ice, but that just stung. Finally, I figured that if I left it alone and tried not to irritate it to much, the bump on the inside of my lip would heal on its own.
I have had this bump for over a week now, and it has still shown no signs of healing. If anything, it seems to have gotten bigger and more painful. It has gotten to the point where I cannot consentrate in school or even sleep at night because the pain is too excruciating. It gives me headaches. The most agonizing pain comes when I must eat and my bottom teeth inevitably rub against it (which did not happen when it first developed).
How can I possibly heal this bump and get rid of the pain? Will I have to suffer for months until it goes away on its own? Should I go see a professional? Could I have seriously injured myself?
any help/ advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Vetgirl,

It's now three days later and if the problem continues or is worsening, yes, see your medical provider to ensure your good health. Only a direct examination can determine what's going on here.
