Hi there, I am a 20 year male and have been having some strange symptoms in my mouth and throat. First of all it all started when I was under alot of anxiety and stress. My dad was going threw chemo and was about to get his last scan, I was finishing up the fire academy for my fire I and II and under alot of stress studying and getting prepared, and also at the same time I developed burning urination a couple months after a sexual episode.

I had Chlamydia in the past after my gf cheated on me and that was my first encounter since. I immediately grew ton of anxiety and stress about getting it again and possibly HIV or other stds. I got checked and they came back negative luckily. At this time however I started feeling like something was stuck in my throat and wouldnt go away.My throat looks reddened below the uvula but isn't sore, just uncomfortable at times and irritated. I also notice that I get white foamy stuff stuck at the back of my throat thats sticking to my throat but it can be swallowed away. It's not food, I think its saliva but Iv never noticed that before. In the mornings my throat feels completely normal but when I start stressing or thinking about it it comes back. Its worse at night and feels a little sore but not bad and is always 100% in the morning. Also hard palate roof of my mouth is like white?

Could this be cancer or what is it? Is all this caused from stress? Any info would be much appreciated thank you so much and God bless.

Hi 10willis,

This is an online message board and not a live chatroom so it can take some time to get answers. But you will get a response and I hope you'll keep checking back.

In the meantime, make an appointment with your doctor to start pursuing answers, if only to ease your mind.

Hi 10willis10,
I apologize about the delay in responding to your post. Although I cannot diagnose you online what you are describing sounds much more like a stress response than anything else.

I am glad that your father has finished his chemotherapy, your final exams are over and all of your tests for STDs returned negative results. Hopefully you will have time to just breathe for a while.

Since your throat feels normal in the morning and becomes more uncomfortable as the day progresses (or you remember that your throat looked red) it is most likely stress associated. It is possible that you are irritating the tissue by coughing, clearing your throat or trying to look past your uvula. As it becomes more irritated it will appear redder than the surrounding tissue.

In addition, I would not assume that what you are seeing in the back of your throat is abnormal for you. Remember that prior to this event you had not spent much time looking in your mouth or throat.

To ease your mind I suggest that you see either your physician or an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor.

I hope this helps!
