I had a wisdom tooth pulled out two days ago and just today my gum started turning white, now is that because its healing or should I be worried about this and contact my dentist? I does not hurt and there is no swelling. I'm also taking amoxicillin to prevent infection. Help please because I'm pretty nervous about it.

Hi KymNick,

It's now a day later. It can take time before one of our experts would have a chance to look in (and won't be again until next week) so if you remain concerned, please contact your dentist.

Dear KymNick89:

It does not sound like anything is wrong. As long as you have no pain, fetid (stinky) odor, and other symptoms, you are healing well.
If you are concerned, the right thing is always to call your dentist. He/She MUST know if there is anything wrong and should be more than happy to reassure you that everything is right.

You should have a two week post-op visit to make sure that the healing is progressing properly.

Do not worry.

Best of luck and a Happy Thanksgiving.
