Tonsillitis

I have tonsillitis and I'm already on antibiotics for it. On the bottom row of my teeth my gums are slightly swollen and are overlapping my very back tooth on both sides of my mouth. I'm just wondering if that is connected to the swollen tonsils or if this is something else because it's making it impossible to eat solid food.
