    root canal failure or?

    Hi all,

I have a tooth abscess (gum swelling/boil) above an upper left tooth that had a root canal and a crown down over a year ago (second from back) and pain that has spread from that tooth to the entire left side of the head (cheek, nose, eye, head). I also started coughing up phlegm and having congestion.

I'm having some problems communicating between my endodontist and my ENT specialist. The endo says my infection is periodontal and there is no chance that the infection spread from a bad root canal into the sinus, while the ENT specialist says there's no sinus infection at all and that it's all about the tooth.

Here's yesterday's CT image that (as much as I can tell as a lay person) has some indication something is going on in the sinus but I'm still not getting anywhere with either of them.

Any idea on what's going on? I'm mostly concerned about there being communication between a bad tooth and the sinus. I'm on Augmentin but still not getting significantly better.
