White ring around tooth at the gum
    Althy posted:
I was brushing this evening and I noticed that my tooth hurt, and there was a white ring around said tooth at the gum line. Anyone know what this could be?
    MarkMHB responded:
Dear Althy, It's difficult to infer just what the white ring might be, because there are several possibilities: incipient tooth decay, established tooth decay, or congenital enamel hypoplasia are just three possibilities. Dental pain is also a non-specific symptom, and could reflect a wide variety of different issues. There is even the possibility that the white ring on the tooth and the pain are unrelated, despite the implied connection suggested by your question. Your best approach to clarifying the nature of your symptoms is to visit your dentist for a formal diagnosis. Good luck! Mark Bornfeld Brooklyn, NY
    Althy responded:
Hey, thanks for the response! I would visit my dentist by I no longer have any dental insurance sadly.
