    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    pancreas transplant question

Is there anyone out there who has had a pancreas transplant to treat type 1 diabetes, who also has Addison's disease? My 42 year old brother is suffering from Type 1 complications, neuropathy, retinopathy, gastroparisis, etc... A transplant for him would be a miracle, but I don't want to give him false hope if the Addison's disease disqualifies him as a candidate.

Sorry, I don't know enough about Addison's to know if it is a disqualifier or not. I would hope not if it is controllable. I had a pancreas tx in 2008 and I am doing well. My gastroparesis is under good control and some of my neuropathy has reversed.

I would talk to the transplant center and see what they have to say. Best of luck.
