John - biopsy result
MrsCora01 posted:
Hi John and thanks for the support on my other post. I got the results back yesterday and the good news is that I am not rejecting the kidney. On the sort of down side, there is some damage from the prograf. The docs are going to be discussing what to do, and I hope they will put me back on the rapa. We'll see. Thanks again. Cora
John-SKPT responded:
I hope that you get a good result. As always, no two patients are the same. But my docs were relutant to change to Rapamune even though I had been pressing them for a couple of years. They only gave in after a biopsy showed Prograf toxicity. And it was quite a few months before they agreed to try a drug change. And I was only expecting to stop additional damage, not to see the creatinine go down, But it really did. I was amazed and thankful. Any drug change in somewhat risky, so proceed with caution, but it was the best move that I ever made.
MrsCora01 responded:
So I am back on the rapa. I am on a half dose of prograf until my rapa levels are up to where they want me to be. Thanks for giving me the heads up on that John. Cora
John-SKPT responded:
I really hope that it works very well for you. Rapamune is a great drug, but it isn't perfect for everyone. I hope your experience on it will be as good or better than mine has been.
