Hello...just like to tell you all that from the waist downwards..I am quite knackered.....the specialist doc...said...that looking at my mri on my lower lumbar 4 and 5...that the nerves are free to do what they want...
therefore feel pain all the time...I take Mobic...and oesteopanodol...and my left hip needs replacing...but because my lower back on the left side is so bad...I have been told I will take it to the grave.
I am a young minded 67 year old...and loved sport etc...it all started happening when I was 61..One day/. got out of a small car and walked 50 metres and I felt I was walking through thick glue. I thought what is happening.....I think that is what oesteoarthritus must feel like.....and it was all diagnosed.....at the moment...I am enjoyed the nine raisins three times a day soaked heavily in gin....as recommended on this site....so will let you know.....if anyone has any good ideas how to cope with all this....please let me know. I try to diet...because I need to lose 2 stone....but find it hard to lose weight as I cannot exercise without the stupid pain coming.....I drink white wine ....in the afternoon and it seems to relax the pain and I feel happy....but I dont know if this is right....because its acid.....let me know dear friends in the same boat...what we can do....to help each other......I have been to hydro therapy.....I felt all the bones clicking and moving....and I felt good in the warm water....but once out....I felt like a ton weight...and my knees and back have been bad since. If you have a diet plan or tablets or anything that can help us....lets share....at the moment...its the raisins.....he he.....take care.... everyone and live life to the fullest.

Hello,
I suffer from osteoarthritis (oa) & stenosis in my lumbar spine. I also have bone-on-bone oa in my left hip. Because I am 56 years old the surgeon I prefer (I got a few opinions due to the complication of fibrous dysplasia in my left femur) feels I am not yet in real need of a total hip replacement. I walk with just a slight limp.

I attribute this to the fact that I keep my weight down, eat a very healthy diet & perform water exercises on a daily basis along with stretching, light weights & walking as much as I can tolerate. I use a warm water pool (89 degrees) at a nearby gym & it is truly therapeutic in keeping me flexible & more mobile. I also suffer from fibromyalgia & do have osteoarthritis in other joints.

I don't deny that I suffer from chronic pain with all the conditions stated however, I manage my health well in that I not only want to avoid surgery for as long as possible but I also want to remain mobile.

Do you get enough Vitamin D as well as calcium, magnesium & other important vitamins & minerals crucial for good health?

It is hard to start exercising while in pain however, if you take it slowly & engage in gentle exercise (water walking, stretching, etc.) you will eventually be able to do more. Any amount is better than none at all.

Best of luck to you.
