There are orthopaedic doctors with special training in hands. When possible, I will refer my patients with hand issues to this type of phsycian. It is also let my patients know that it is important for their surgeon to know if they are in pain so they can adequately asses their condtiion..

Conner, Ask your Dr about those braces with the screw attachments. Your finger is strapped onto the brace section and the braces have screws that are very slowly turned- a little over each week, as the brace slowly pulls the finger open a little at a time. Took a few weeks before my
2 bent fingers were finally straigthened. Mine was from an injury to the little finger which eventually started pulling all the other fingers on that hand downward with it. The op Dr said removing the little finger was the only way to save the other fingers. I saw a specialist who started me with the finger braces. The injured little finger can never be straightened all the way, ( is lots better than after the op.) but the others are all working great. Good Luck, Hope the braces work as great for you as they did for me. I have forgotten the actual name of the finger braces with the screw attachment that operates the bending of the brace itself. Screws never touch your fingers themself.
