Calcium depletion and osteoporosis due to long term methadone use

Hi, I need some expert opinion/facts on the above. I was on methadone for 8 years and got myself off it in June, 2008. I understand what it does to destroy your teeth but have found very little documentation on how long term methadone use may lead to osteo. i am 59 years old and have no family hx. I am "built" for osteo. My last scan results were -2.4 at spine and -3.4 at hip. Not good!! I am on Fosamax and not sure if waiting another year is in my best interest for another scan. I really feel that long term methadone use, as necessary as it was, DOES lead to osteo. I would love expert help and opinion. More research need done on this topic. Thank you so much!!
