Exercise for Osteopenia

I'm 54 and diagnosed with osteopenia. I'm fairly active and want to avoid the slide to osteoporosis. I've never had a broken bone and take calcium and vitamin D. I like Zumba and want to know if it will help.

Zumba is good weight bearing exercise, but if you have low bone density (osteopenia) it can be tricky and risky. If you can avoid twisting the spine (like you're trying to turn your body around from the waist up) and avoid bending at the waist and avoid jumping, you could probably do it. Better exercise is walking - at least a half hour each day.
