Women and men with osteoporosis started with osteopenia ! Osteopenia leads to osteoporosis so it is Very relevant with the paltrow story of Gwenth Paltrow having osteopenia !
also almost everybody today knows that the drugs for osteoporosis are so dangerous that there are tons of law suits pending against the drug companies where women have suffered broken femur bones to losing a jaw bone to losing all their teeth so please stop advising us to take these horrible drugs we all know they kill and worst of all they dont even improve the bone quality they make it fragile !
the correct site is reverseosteopenia .com and its very good it is run by a lady who had osteopenia and cured it Naturally too! She is a nurse and lectures all over the world and she really wants to help women get strong bones not just fleece people by shoving dangerous drugs on them.

Hi, Edenishere, I have osteopenia and just had my second fracture. First one 13 years ago-hip and second one 10 weeks ago -spine. I did take Fosamax for over 12 years and have been off meds for about 3 years. I plan to go to a bone center in my area next month for an eval. Am afraid that they will want me to take drugs. i exercise regularly and take calcium but it's not enuf. I tried to get on the web site you mention. But i can't for some reason. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Also, just for your information so that you can have a meaningful conversation with the bone specialist - you have a clinical diagnosis of osteoporosis. Forget the osteopenia forever.

When you fracture a hip or spine that gives you an automatic diagnosis of osteoporosis. It also doubles your risk of having another fracture. You've had two fractures already in fragile places and you're no longer on medication. Your risk of having another possible life altering fracture is huge. You're right to realize that calcium is not enough. It doesn't grow new bone, it helps you keep the bone you have.

Our bodies continue to make new bone, but as we age, the rate at which the body absorbs old bone cells stays the same while the rate of new bone growth decreases; thus decreased bone mass. The drugs slow down the rate of resorption so that the body has a chance to catch up the bone building.

Be sure you continue to consume 1200 mg of calcium a day and spread it out throughout the day as your body can only absorb about 500 mg at a time. You also need about 1000 IU of Vit D each day to send the calcium to the bone.
