sudden abdominal distension

my sister is a healthy 43 year old, with no medical history except that she was a kidney donor 3 years ago. two weeks ago, she woke up one morning with her abdomen distended like she was 9 months pregnant. They did an abdominal CT, which was negative, then a pelvic US which is showing ovarian polyps and lesions. I am trying not to freak out about this, but everything is moving so slowly. She now has been referred to a gynecologist, but can't get in to see him for another 12 days! Should I be this worried, or do I need to calm down?
