What is wrong with me?

Hi Ladies,

I could really use some advice. Almost 4 months ago now, I started experiencing an abnormal vaginal discharge - only when having sexual intercourse with my partner. I thought maybe I had missed a pill and was spotting. Well, as the months went on it got worse and worse, and is now a constant discharge. The discharge is brown in colour and smells terrible. I also started bloating in the abdoment and experiencing pain on my left side. Not having a family doctor, I headed to the ER and was given antibiotics for an infection, a swab test, and an ultrasound. The results of the swab test showed absolutely nothing - no STD's, not even an infection. The ultrasound only showed an ovarian cyst, but also no signs of infection. I was told to finish the antibiotics anyway (since I had already started them) and to take some anti-inflamatories for the cyst to help it go away. I've now completed both perscriptions. The pain and swelling is pretty much gone. The discharge has decreased, but is definitely no where near gone. The colour and smell are still just as awful. Family members have advised me just to wait and see if it gets better, but I'm sick of waiting and sick of being sick. It's an embarassing problem, and I want my life back! As far as I can tell, the discharge is not a normal symptom of an ovarian cyst. I feel there must be something else going on, but all the tests showed nothing. Help please?

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I had the same symptoms close to two years ago. I was diagnosed with having chronic cervicitis. I was told that it normally has to take its course by my gynecologist at the time. But she did prescribe me Metronidazole Vaginal Gel that I had to use for 5 days. This did help clear up the problem both times that it occurred. I do understand the embarrasment that is associated with the awful smell that you cannot get rid of along with the constant discharge. I hope this helps.

I have the same symptoms and have been told i have a cyst on my ovaries as well but wasnt given any medication what so ever and i dont have insurance so it is hard to find out anything much more than that. I would like to know what to do as well because the smell and everything is VERY embarassing.
