Sleep Deprivation

Sorry about the lack of sleep, but it will get better...eventually! And you have twins, so hopefully they will get on the same schedule at some point. I tried really hard to start a routine early on, but I don't feel it's really possible in those early months. We loosely followed Baby Wise, but babies are all different and you just have to do what works for your family. I think around 2 months of so my son Alex would wake up twice during the night if we put him down around 10pm. Then he went to waking up once, but then regressed and started waking up multiple times at night. At six months we let him cry it out and he has slept through the night since. I know that seems like a long time from now, but it will pass by in the blink of an eye, so remember this is temporary! And you are doing the right thing... sleep when the sleep or while someone else is over! Good luck and keep us posted!

I think what you are experiencing is pretty normal for three weeks old. But it must be extra hard having to do it with two babies, rather than one! My ODS, Evan, didn't start sleeping through the night until around 3-4 mos old. My YDS, Miles, is 8 weeks old now. When he gets his last bottle around 10:30 he will sleep until around 3:30, and then until around 6:30ish. Do you notice them having their days and nights confused?

When Madden was 3 weeks he would wake up every hour and a half to two hours day and night. I think it wasn't until he was just almost 2 months where he started sleeping longer during his first stretch of the night. from then til now he'll go down between 9-10pm and he'll sleep 4-5 hours before he wakes up to eat and then he'll wake up every 2 hours after that. I can't wait til he starts sleeping through the night. Hang in there mama. It'll get easier! and like Emily said, hopefully the twins will establish the same schedule.

It will get better I promise. It's really hard though. Eliza had her days and nights mixed up until 7wks. She then started waking up every 2 to 3 hrs and that was only after going to sleep after midnight. Now on her 4mth bday she just started sleeping through the night. Giving her the formula made the difference. I'm almost fully weaned from breast feeding.

That is great. I was changing her diaper in the middle of the night then it was suggested that it isn't necessary as long as it is just pee.

I think it's time to move up to a different diaper now. We currently have Madden on size 3 pampers swaddlers and as much as i love them, Madden is just soaking through them like crazy at night and he hates feeling wet. I keep telling DH that we need to retire the swaddlers but he doesn't want to only because he loves that line in the middle. Apparently he doesn't know when Madden needs a diaper change. LOL! So now I'm on the fence on whether we should try pamers cruisers or baby dry. I

James is in size 2 now and we're working on a big box of Pampers (Sesame Street) before we get to the new box of Huggies Little Swaddlers. Erin is in the size 1 Little Swaddlers. The Pampers don't have a line, but the Huggies do.
Right now we're struggling with Erin's colic. She screams most nights, sometimes for a few hours. I can't wait until she grows out of it. She's a happy baby when her tummy isn't hurting. James is happy most of the time.
