Hi ladies and cradle cap

How is everyone doing? its good to see the ladies who 'graduated' from PAIF board here! i was trying to find this board for the longest time!

Zara Ann is not 10 weeks old, going on 11 weeks. she is doing well and is a good baby. i recently went back to work and put her in daycare. its been really tough...

Apart from a little spit up issue, she is doing well. she does however, have a nasty case of cradle cap. she was born with a full head of hair but now so much of it has fallen out because of the cradle cap. i've tried oils and that works for a day or two, but the flakes come back.

has anyone else's baby had that? any suggestions?

Hey Rooni! Glad Zara Ann is doing well! It's hard going back to work and not being able to be with them. It gets easier. slowly, but it does. I've been back at work for a month now and I still feel sad and I want to be home with Madden. As far as the cradle cap goes, i've been wondering the same thing. Madden was born with a full head of hair but his cradle cap is getting really bad that the front is thinning. poor kid, he looks like he has a receding hair line. I've tried baby oil but that doesn't seem to work. someone told me coconut oil or just wait it out because they grow out of it. i'd rather not wait though. it looks all yellow and scaley.

yea hers was yellow and crusty and ive been using olive oil and scraping it, but it comes back. dr said i could use selsun blue if i wanted, but so far ive been hesitating because i almost feel like it'll dry her scalp out even further. i think i will try it though. just a tiny amount diluted with water and see how it works and how she feels about it. dr said it can be tingly. i'll let you know how it worked.

Hi!
I have found the BEST cure for cradle cap and I'm so annoyed that I didn't know about it with my older son Evan! While in the tub take some baking soda and make it into a paste on baby's scalp. Leave it there while you wash the rest of her body and then brush it with one of those scrub brush/sponges that the hospital gave you if you have it. Then rinse. I tried this on Miles twice and his cradle cape immediately went away and has yet to return over a month later! Hope this works for you too!!

so add water and make it into a paste before putting it on her head? or just wet her head and put baking soda and rub it in?

When I did it, I wet his head first, and tried to make the baking soda into a paste into my hand by wetting it a bit also before placing it on his head. I'm sure either way will be effective though! Hope you have as good of results as I did!

Wow I will keep that in mind. Thx. Eliza has it and has lost a lot of her hair. She too has a receding hairline and her hair is so patchy.. We put baby oil on her scalp 5min before bath After bath we took a comb and the flakes came off including some of her hair. It did help after only a couple of times. Her hair is finally starting to grow back and she is now 5 1/2 mths.

Zara is balding too. she was born with a head full of hair, now she is like a bald man with a bad comb over

my husband didnt want to use the dandruff shampoo or baking soda because he was afraid of hurting her. i did find something that worked better than oil. i got Aveeno's eczema wash and moisturizing cream. the wash keeps her skin softer and when the flakes do come back, they are much much softer and easier to get off. after i wash her hair i put the cream in and it take care of the redness and again softens her scalp.

my pediatrician said losing hair is normal and that they lose their hair and new hair grows.
