Spotting

Well Ladies, I'm going a little crazy in my head right now. I am currently just shy of a 6 week mark and yesterday I had VERY minor/minimal spotting that was only detected on two bathroom breaks in the afternoon. After that, no more spotting. Then, I woke up this morning and after going to the bathroom I saw evidence of more spotting. I didn't spot at all during my last pregnancy so this is foreign to me. I know that it can be normal for women to spot throughout their first trimester. This knowledge doesn't actually ease my worries, but I know it nonetheless. I'm holding out on calling my OB until it's significant enough to note. I'm aware that if I am having a miscarriage that there is nothing I can do about it at this point. I just wish I could know if that's what it is or not.
Thanks for listening. I just needed to say this to a group of women who can empathize with what's going on.

Hi Sarah,
I'm sorry to hear about the spotting. At a time when you just want to relax and enjoy your pregnancy, there is nothing worse than having that worry creep into your mind. I doubt if this will make you feel better but I bled (heavily) with both of my pregnancies. While pregnant with Evan I spotted a good amount around 8 weeks and had massive bleeding around 12 weeks and was diagnosed w/ a SCH. While pregnant with Miles I had heavy bleeding around 6 weeks (they couldn't determine the cause) and another moderate bleeding episode at 16 weeks (from a small tear). Like you said it's very common to bleed during the first trimester and I know of several friends who have experienced this as well. I can totally relate to the anxiety you're feeling right now! Try to distract yourself as much as you can and hopefully by tomorrow the spotting will have disappeared! (HUGS)

I finally called my OB yesterday and made an appt for today. I had an ultrasound and my OB saw the sac AND the heartbeat. I measured 5w6d and she counted the heartbeat about 120. She's not 100% satisfied with all this so I'll be going back every week in November to get measurements. She did see what is either a blood sac that formed or a vanishing twin. She said that she was going to call my spotting "implantation spotting" but she'll watch the other black dot just to be safe. Very relieved that it was good news. I'm also happy that she saw me because I know some women's OBs make them wait it out. I'll just have to look at this as a blessing that is allowing me to get more u/s than I would have gotten otherwise. Thanks for checking in ladies.

I had a vanishing twin and did have a little spotting when it started to go away. I freaked out and ran from the bathroom outside to call the nurse. My OB was doing extra ultrasounds to watch it anyway because he said they don't know much about them. That was the first ultrasound when it was getting smaller. I hope that's all it is for you and everything goes smoothly from here on.

Saw my OB yesterday. Everything looks good. I was able to hear the heartbeat this time. And whatever black spot she saw last week is gone.
I haven't had any spotting for a few days now and the cramping has gone down. There's still a little cramping but my OB doesn't seemed concerned. I go back in two weeks.
This is turning out much better than I thought it would. It won't be until the second trimester that I'll breathe easy. Thanks for checking in ladies.
