Scoliosis/Thigh Pain

I have had scoliosis since 1994. One day when I came home from the school bus my mom noticed my neck was really messed up. My left ear was pratically touching my left shoulder. She immediately took me to the family chiropractor and they did xrays on my neck/back as well as straightened out my neck. After taking the xrays we found out I had scoliosis. I then went to the chiropractor for 2-3 times a week for 2-3 months for my back. They did manipulations on my back, pushed/pulled on my legs to correct the innequality and I would also lay on a machine that had rollers inside that would go up/down my back. I still have a leg length innequality where my right leg is appx. 2 inches longer than my left leg.Should I be getting this checked every few years or be doing nothing? I have done nothing since the 2-3 months in 1994.

Once in a while I will get pain in my left thigh where it hurts to stand, usually I get this at work like yesterday while unloading the truck which is about 8-9 carts of 36-46LBS. boxes. Like yesterday the pain seemed to be gone after a hour after work which I left at noon when done with the truck which i don't start until it shows up on our lot. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Hi
When is the last time you seen a medical doctor and i don't mean a DC (chiropractor), I would never take one of my children to a butcher. You need to see a real doctor. I will never go to a DC again. I tried once. That DC has no idea if he is doing further damage to you, i can rent a x-ray machine and do the same things he can, it doesn't make it right. Please see a MD and he will send you to the type of doctor you should be seen by. Do you know when the last time you had a check up with a MD was. Please let me know.

the last time I saw a MD was last summer July 7, 2009 for a plugged right ear which turned out to be an ear infection(took antibiotics-ammoxicillion and had ear drops for this one), then July 7, 2009 for a recheck on the right ear then about a week later for a plugged left ear, that time they just cleaned out the ear with hydrogen peroxide and water mixed together in a syringe type bottle. each time I went it was to the Quick Care we have at our doctor office, and each time I saw a different doctor, all who were internal medicine doctors, which is what you usually get. Each Time I went they took me into a room where they weighed me, took temperature, and blood pressure, Both second time and third time the doctor told me my blood pressure was a little high (didn't have to do anything for that), and then took me into another room where the doc would come in and check my ears. I got these from swimming in my best friend's neighbors pool. My friend thought I got them because they don't take very good care of the PH level, etc.

I haven't had a real checkup since my physical for 9th grade and last summer is the last time I saw a real doctor for anything since the physical. Since I started College fall of 1999, I didn't have insurance until, my fifth job at Channahon, IL McDonalds, which at first they did not have benefits for crew, only managers until now, which I have had benefits for more than a year, and is $44 a paycheck.

Yes, I agree with scoliosis you need to be seen by a real Dr I don't mean two scare you but sometimes a metal rod has ro be inserted to keep & grow the spine straight as for your uneven gait and hip pain it's likely caused by the difference in your leg heights that can really through you off balance some need a special custom made shoe, I know that at school usually around 4th grade they check children for this and there are special Shriner Hospitals that can help you, if you are a minor alot of this can be done for free, This is serious stuff my daughter was diagonosed with it and had a 17% curve to her back and she was monitered closely. In this day & age no insurance is no excuse, that could qualify you for a disability at least a partial one, Another place to check is your local, DSHS or Community action programs. What are your parents doing or do you live with them? I can't believe no one has picked up on this sooner or even asked you about your limp or spine being abnormal. A chiropractor is not a licensed medical Docter, I'm not totally against them I've seen them myself but you should really be seen by a Licensed Medical Dr or Specialist in the field of Orthopedic surgery. I'm sorry to be so livid but this just sounds bizzare and under the heading of Child abuse by medical neglect.

Hi;
Yes please find a doctor since you may not have one now, there are places that use the silding scale chart, this goes by what you make.
you don't make that much they are not going to charge you that much. Most of the hospitals will write off bills or they
have money for hospital charges that will help you cover it.
There are some programs besides medicaid which can help pay. Please let me know how your doing.

Hi jszaradowski. I have scoliosis also and my friend, you definately need to see a Dr for help with this. I do not know how old you are or where you live but there is help if you can not afford a Dr. You need a neuro or ortho Dr to get real treatment. Maybe they can put a brace on you or do something that will help you. Having one leg shorter than the other will cause severe hip pain trying to function. I went to a very good physical therapist that helps with that particular problem.. I will not go to a chiropractor. They can actually make the problem worse. Scoliosis does not heal itself.. You definately need to be more aggressive about treating the scoliosis. Please let us know how you are doing.

Hi;
The pain that your talking about is it closer to the hip or farther down the hip. Let me know if you have a chance.

The pain is usually only in the thigh(Upper leg only). It comes and goes, sometimes when I have been standing for a long time at work, or sometimes when I am unloading the truck.

I thought I felt the pain a little todayI worked 7AM-punched out at 1PM, and then Bagged with fork/knives the salad dressings for the week until 2PM.

What do you think I don't see a doctor or do nothing? Could something bad happen?
