I'm in need of a pain medication stronger than OTC to manage several carpal tunnel syndrome. I am allergic to codeine and derivatives. Any recommendations of something that can be used short term but won't leave me lethargic and knocked out?

If you want something stronger than OTC then you're going to need a prescription from a doctor. Since you'll have to make an appointment that will be a great time to ask about different medications.

Lidocaine ointment might help with carpal tunnel. But you need a prescription for the ointment. It is a local anesthetic that numbs localized pain. Best of luck. ~K.
