    Pain and the holidays
    steverreno posted:
To all of you: Have a great holiday season and to Hell with the pain. Just put mind over matter. Love to all. Steverreno
    CTBeth responded:
    Thank-you for your kind wishes.

Sadly, the "mind over matter" is not a tremendously-successful modality for some in severe and chronic pain.

Nice of you to write, nonetheless.

How are you feeling? Do you use meditation or other methods to help you put mind over matter in helping you cope with your pain syndrome?

    Take care.

    steverreno replied to CTBeth's response:
    Hi CBT,
I have been away visiting one of my children in Atlanta hence my slowness in replying. I'm feeling "fine" right now and I'm using 600mg of Lyrica per day and that's it. I think the Lyrica is about 25% effective and I refuse to take any controlled substance, so you can see where my mind comes in. I do have a great deal of pain from good old neuropathy in my feet and legs, but I never think about it. I can't walk without help, but what the heck,I'm 84.

I do not know you well enough to speak to your mindset although I can tell you that God plays a large part in my game. Never put down the concept of "mind over matter." You can use the mind in many creative ways and along with the help of God a great deal of the pain just fades away.

Enough for now, I must go and tutor a young friend.

    CTBeth replied to steverreno's response:
Haha, I almost addressed you (last entry) as, "Hi Ho, Steverreno", but didn't know if you'd catch the allusion. At eighty-four years of age, I'll bet that you do, LOL!

How nice of you to reply. I hope that you had a nice holiday. I love Atlanta and live in Connecticut, hence "CTBeth".

Surely whatever you are doing is working well for you and thankfully the Lyrica is helping you a bit and your spiritual and internal modalities give you strength.

If you click on my name or picture, you can read about the nature of my pain origins.

I do hope you'll visit, in parlance, this site again and share some of your thoughts and suggestions.

I look forward to reading more from you

Meanwhile, do enjoy the holiday season.

    CT Beth
