Hi Bethe,

I'm sorry to hear you're having such pain. It's now a day later and I agree with the previous poster.... contact your surgeon (not the ER) to ensure your good health. Their tips may be the same but they may have some other ideas for you and/or will be able to tell you when you can expect this will ease and, if it doesn't, when you should return for an appointment.

I agree with the others, contact your surgeon or your regular doctor.

That being said, when I had mine out I had really bad sharp pain where my gallbladder used to be for 3 weeks after my surgery.

It's worth a call or visit to make sure everything is checking out alright.

I had same pain. It went away in 3 days. Best to call surgeon.

I had my gall bladder taken out in December. The CO2 gas is supposed to be harmless and any gas remaining after they deflate your stomach should be absorbed by the body without any issues. The fact that you are having issues indicates a possible problem and as others said, definitely contact your surgeon about that. I didn't feel any gas like they said I might feel. Also, I had some pain where the gall bladder was and one time it felt as if my liver contracted and that was very painful and I was driving on the freeway at the time. So glad that went away. As of now, I have a phantom pain every now and then at one of the laparoscopic incision sites ( the one at the top of your stomach in the middle just below the rib cage). I am doing much better now post-op 2 months. But it was a rough go getting here but I think everything is getting back to normal now as I have felt fine for a 1 full week now (lol...that was just last week ).

I had my gall bladder out a month ago (July 31, 2012) - I'm still struggling; extreme fatigue, GERD, no appetite (which I lost when I was sick for two months prior to the surgery), can you share with me what you did to help you get back to normal? I miss my old self sooo much...even if it wasn't a perfect self. -

I did have GERD too for about a month after surgery but it eventually went away. What came next was an intolerance to certain foods...mostly healthy foods that were unprocessed. I would get super bloated to the point it was extremely uncomfortable. If you are taking Miralax, I would stop that and see if it helps. Miralax exacerbated my problems after surgery. It used to work okay before surgery. I have found that prune juice has really helped get my digestive system back on track. I drink one 6 oz glass chilled every other day. With the prune juice I can eat anything and I am not experiencing GERD or severe bloating anymore. Let us know if it helps. I still deal with extreme fatigue, which is really hard on me. So I don't know when the fatigue will truly disapate. My doctor told me it should only last a month or two but it has been longer than that...I am almost a year post-op.
