What should I do about pain medicine

Went to care now they told me I had strep throat was really out of it and my inner ear was killing me. They asked me if I needed any pain stuff and I thought they were talking about the numbing stuff that you put in your ears so I said yes. They instead I found out when my boyfriend brought the prescriptions that they prescribed tramadol. I am already going to pain management but they are closed during the weekends and on Monday for memorial day. My boyfriend was diagnosed at the same time as I was with the same thing, so he was experiencing pain as well. I forgot about the not getting pain medicine from other doctors but I didn't want to take any but my bf asked for one and I let him have one. About 5 minutes ago it hits me that I should not have gotten the tramadol period and I'm not going to take any and as soon as Tuesday comes along I'm calling my pain management doctor immediately but should I be worried they will kick me out

I don't know how strict your doctor is. Yes, you could get kicked out. Both for filling the RX for tramadol and for giving one to your boyfriend. That is called diversion and is one of the reasons doctors want to limit how many pain killers are floating around out there.

Why didn't your boyfriend get his own? Was it insurance access? Is there some reason the doctor did not offer him his own RX since you were both diagnosed with the same thing?

If the PM doctor you are seeing asks to see the RX bottle and counts the pills, he will assume you took one. Think of what you wish to say to him...

In the future never share RX meds, it is bad for both of you, in the long run.

Take care of yourself, I hope you fell better soon.

It also depends on the pain Contracr you signed some say that Dental work and E.D. Visits are excluded from the rule and all you have to do is notify your PM Doctor AT the Next available office Hours.

And others say though shall not anything from another Doctor without that doctor calling your PM Doctor and consulting,Did this E.D Doctor know you were in Pain Management ??

Yes, it depends on your doctor, how strict he is, and they are getting stricter, and your relationship and length of time with him.
Like Annette, NEVER< NEVER<EVER! get any pain medication from any other doctor. And NEVER give anyone else your medicine. What would happen if he had a severe reaction to the Tramadol and had to go to the ER. You have played with fire and I hope you do not get burned!
