I i have had chronic back pain for a few years and was getting epidurals for relief. i have had pulmonary embolisms now and they will not take me off the coumadin to do the injections for fear of more pe's. they have tried opanan a morphine based drug but it did not help. they are giving me percoset but that only gives minor relief and i dont like the side affects.the sciatic pain is often running down both legs as well as the middle back. i use a walker to take the pressure off the back when i walk. can you recommend any treatment?

Did they install a greenfield filter in you when you originally had the PE's, how often do you have your prothrombin rate checked and how often does your dose of Coumadin vary, and by how much, are all things that your Doctors are taking into consideration in deciding whether or not it is advisable to stop for a period so that you could safely have an Injection.

Further Sciatca pain is usually caused by insult to the nerve and generally would not respond to narcotic pain killers well, these types of pain have showed to be more responsive to agents like Neurontin Cymbalta Lyrica and such.

now if taking pressure off your back helps and using a walker helps you might ask your doctor for a prescription for a rollator, with this you can use it like a walker but it also has a basket for when you are shopping and locking brakes that when applied you can sit on it, so waiting in line becomes sitting in line and if you are tired and achy you can sit down and rest wherever you are, this device may help you.

I am not a Doctor and the previous opinion is that of a fellow consumer, you must seek the care of a Licensed Doctor for an opinion that matters.
