i'm allergic to all narcotic pain meds, i can take ibuprofen and it helps as long as the pain isnt severe, but nothing narcotic. it causes itching and sometimes shortness of breath, ive been told if i continue to take anything these symptoms will get worse and send me into anaphalactic shock. ive found out that the one thing all these pain meds have in common is they all the same active ingredient in them. codiene. yes thats right. all narcotic pain relievers have a common thread..codiene. the only pain med i have not tried is morphine, so idont know if it possesses this too or what would happen to me if i took it. i also have reverse reactions to things such as tranquilisers and things like valium. instead of calming me, they turn me into a raging monster..i dont know what to do...

Methadone and a very few other pain drugs are not related in anyway to codeine.Talk to your doctor about all of this.

Take care, Annette
