Deep Brain Stimulation

I just read everyone's posts and I can certainly relate. I have vulvodynia, fibromyalgia, chronic headaches, 4 herniated discs, spinal stenosis, arthritis and Heaven only knows what else. I also suffer from severe depression. I am extremely sensitive to any kind of pain and, unfortunately, there is no pain medication (opioids included) that even relieve my pain a fraction. I've been on Lyrica, Neurontin (gabapentin), all kinds of antidepressants plus every narcotic in the book and nothing touches my pain. I have heard that they are doing deep brain stimulation for pain where they put electrodes into the pain area of the brain and hook them up to a pacemaker-like thing that stimulates that area and is supposed to relieve pain. They already use deep brain stimulation for epilepsy, Parkinsons, Tourettes syndrome and other brain disorders, but I also read that they are doing this for pain. I have no idea where this is being done and, obviously, the idea of brain surgery is very frightening, but wouldn't it be great if it could relieve our pain and eliminate the need for medication? If anyone knows anything further about this, let us know.
