I have had cancer three times including pancreatic cancer. I also have fibromyalgia and ddd and djd. I have been on and off pain meds for 8 years , at first I only took them in the hospital after surgeries and pancreatitis. The chemo treatments caused alot of bone pain which still continues. Ive been to pain clinics, recently I also went to a pc and asked for pain meds also because what I got from the pain clinic was not working anymore. Well I got caught. I am so sorry I wasnt just honest. The pc and I had a huge arguement and i walked out. Now I have no pills at all and my pain is severe but mostly I am afraid of withdrawl. I was awake all night thinking about what I did and really am sorry I wasnt honest but I didnt want to be looked at like an an addict . I am addicted but not an addict. I have not one time gotten high from my meds execpt when it was given to me IV in the hospital. I thought about going to a rehab for the withdrawl, I have had a grand mal sezure in the past, but I really want another chance to just take what 1 doctor prescribes me. Doctors dont take pain serious enough. Atleast not any I have found yet What should I do?

Sorry that you are3 going such a hard time!First of all, you mentioned grand mal sezures,I've had them too!Was it because you ran out of meds????Have you been on any Benzo's(zanax, valium, etc?) What other meds were you taking???
How long have you been without??I will say from experience ,if you can YES go to REhab!I So you think your not a Addict??You are walking a very fine line if you lied ,broke your contract with your PM and went to another DR.
I suggest you really think about it and be honest with yourself.Only you know!!

It is very hard to say whether you are an addict or not, I will leave that to someone who actually sees you in person.

Since you state you are more afraid of withdrawal than pain, I will tell you that withdrawal is very individual. Not everyone goes through serious withdrawal from opioids and often the main symptoms only last a few days, like 3-4. If you know it will end maybe it will be easier to get through.

My husband doesn't even go through withdrawal from daily opioid use. I have been with him twice and he told me he had done it one other time when he had cancer, no withdrawals at all. I have cut my methadone in half and had no withdrawal symptoms at all. I had less pain after a surgery and was able to decrease my pain meds for quite awhile.

The good thing is that opioid withdrawal (when that is all you are dealing with) doesn't cause seizures. Why did you have the other gran mal seizure in the past, and how long ago was it? Benzos are famous for causing seizures during withdrawal.

Take care, and be honest in the future.
