Chronic Pain of the Chest Wall

I am trying to get some feedback on pain meds and/or therapies that have worked for some. I had a chest chondroma removed from my chest in 2008. Had it since childhood. Been having chronic pain ever since that has gotten so much worse. It is debilitating. Right now I'm on oxycodone and Butrans patch. I have had nerve blocks which made it worse. My doc now wants to do Laser Ablation. I've had 3 surgeries the last being in Mar 12 where they inserted a bridge through 3 ribs. Have been on Morphine (MS Contin), Oxycontin, Oxycodone 10mg/300mg, Vicodin 7.5 and gabapentin. Nothing seems to give me the relief I need. On top of that I am age discriminated against when it comes to opiates. Opiates are the only thing that has come close to helping but because I'm young doctors are scared to give me the dosage I need to feel better. If anyone has suggestion, I'm all ears.

I dont have your problem but I just finished a series of tests due to chest pain, I have a family history of cardio problems and my trig and cholestrol are bad, I have been having chest pain and SOB upon exertion, I now recd my tests results and verbally told they were fine, I have had fibromyalgia since 2001 and recently was tested again for RA the results were 20,5 I went to a rheumatologist and he immediately wanted me to take the methrotextrate and somethimg else I dont remember cuz I never got them after hearing the side effects, I take vicodin every day for pain and cannot wear rings due to swellinmg and had to go up a size and half in shoes, Im wondering if my RA could be causing the chest pain

RA can affect organs as well as joints. I would see another rheumie and get a second opinion about what to do. RA can be degenerative so you need to be very careful what you decide to do.

Take care, Annette
