If I get pain during exercise on my lower shins, not in front of shins, but inner side of shins. Is this still considered shin splints? The pain goes away when i rest the muscle.

Here is a link to a good article on WebMD about shin splints: http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/shin-splints

You will eventually need to discuss this with your doctor for evaluation and possible treatment.

I get pain in the same place Mid tibia, anterior side, generally I find what provokes this is an extreme increase in activity, either to fast or to far (say on the treadmill). It takes about a week or too to calm down once aggravated. Try compressions and Ice Massages. Once you have it back to normal take smaller baby steps in your fitness routine. That should help also try to be light on your feet, pounding can irritate it as well. hope this helps
