    Fighting Cancer/Lupus..horriable pain..Help!!
    sundew31 posted:
Hi..I'm new to this community and need some good advice please..I'm
47,I have Systimic Lupus and Fighting Stage 2 Cancer,I also have had lower back surgery Twice and 3 disks fused but it has'nt helped..I am in sometimes horriable pain from having 18 masses removed from my neck and face in late 2011, and went through 12 weeks of radiation. My lower back hurts all the time and I suffer from "Lupus Flairs". I was told by my oncologist and by my surgeon, that the cancer will come back in 3-5 years because it's so aggresive and I'm very frightened. I have been seeing the same PCP/ Pain Management Dr for 4 1/2 yrs but was just recently told that he's not going to do Pain Management anymore and that I need to take "Myself" off the medications he has me on everyday. I take a 12 hr Morphine pill twice a day and Dilaudid 2mg as needed for break thru pain. I understand that there are people who abuse and sell their medication and there has been a big scare over some who have over dosed, But I'm not one of those people and I'm very ill. I just don't feel it's right or fair that I should be taken off my medications because of others and their bad choices. I have 2 children and I'm a now single Mother with one still at home. I'm fighting for my life and just want to be able to live my life and do daily things, like getting out of the bed, taking care of my son, walking my dog and cleaning my home everyday.I live in a remote area of Florida and there are NOT many good doctors in the area I live in and for me to find a "New" Pain Management Doctor is going to be almost impossiable.I don't know what to do!! I didn't ask to be ill...I didn't ask to get Cancer...I didn't ask to be in all this pain everyday and now to be told this by a Doctor I have trusted with my life and health care for almost 5 yrs because he's being bullied and is afraid to continue helping people who suffer with pain from illness because he doesn't want to loose his license to practice. It's just plain nuts!! Now all this added stress is making me even more ill because I keep getting "Lupus Flairs". I just don't have any answers and I would be greatful for any feed back, help or suggestions. Thank You and God Bless you all who suffer from Constant pain and illness everyday.

Oh how horrible for you! I'm so sorry you have to go through this! Our legislators are getting down right ridiculous in their "fight against drugs". I recently saw an article about Kentucky (that's where I live) officials having a "summit" in Florida. Pitiful!

Anyway, have you talked to your PM doctor about a referral to another PM specialist? How about your regular doctor or oncologist, maybe they could recommend someone for you?
It doesn't seem right to me that they should leave you with no alternative. Bless your heart!

I feel bad for you,its not fair and I wish there was a way for you to fight it with your Dr. but I think your time would be better spent looking for a neew Dr,. even if its a hassle and hard to do it's bettr than going off your meds.!Does this Dr,. think you should just stop cold turkey???I would hope not,he is responsible for you being on the meds!!
I wish you luck and definatly will continue to pray for you !!
    Blessins 77grace
