Recent Fall - Elbow Pain

Hello!

I am a 60 old male with no health problems. I fell yesterday and seemed to have stiff armed my left arm at the elbow, trying to cushion my fall.

There was no immediate pain but as the night progressed, the pain intensified and today I am unable to bend the arm all the way. I do have movement in the hands and fingers. Its only in certain positions that the arm hurts.

I have no health insurance so I was wondering if this is something that will heal on its own like a sprain or should I have this x-rayed?

Thank You!

Ideally you would be examined and get an x-ray to rule out a fracture. In the interim you can proceed with simple rest, ice, and a wrap if that is comforting from a a pain standpoint. If this pain persist a doctors visit is warranted. I hope you feel better soon!

I hope your arm is feeling better by now. If it is not, you might try calling 211 and asking about free or low cost clinics in your area. You can also Google it on your computer.

I am a nurse and used to volunteer at one, they are great, and not as inconvenient as they used to be.

Take care, Annette
