    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    Yours in health,

I am on SSDI, covered by Medicare / BlueCross Blue Shield Blue Medicare PPO. However, my wife is currently not covered. The policy she had kept from a former employer became to high to pay. What do we need to do for her, is there help for her to pay for insurance? We cannot afford any more payments. Please help me know which way to go and what deadlines are out there.

    Thanks

    Hello TJrPuffinstuf,

There are specific dates- and they are upcoming- whereby persons with Medicare insurance can make changes to enrollment..

You will be able to add your wife, but you will have to pay for her coverage. Of course, their rate is lower than any private insurer.

The website SSA.gov should provide the information that you're seeking.

    TJrPuffinstuff,

Check on the Medicare/Social Security site, there may be age restrictions. I don't know just how it works.

    Take care, Annette

    I don't understand this.

I posted the site TWICE before:

    SSA.gov

It is no longer necessary or customarily done to have to put, "http://www"
before the site that you wish to open.

    SSA.gov

The first site that you posted:

    https://www.healthcare.gov/

lead me to "Health Insurance Marketplace Is Coming Soon".

The second site that you posted:

    http://www.medicare.gov/

lead me to the site for only Medicare, which is one piece of the Social Security Administration.

There are also retirement and disability to consider.

The Official Website of the U.S. Social Security Administration Website remains:

    SSA.gov

    The Health Insurance Marketplace
