    Daily Check-In Friday 5/7/10

    Good morning, everyone.

Today my wonderful wife's parents are celebrating 55 years of marriage. Dad has the beginning stages of Alzheimer's but is doing fairly well. Mom is a type 2 diabetic on insulin. Both are doing pretty well and still living in the same house they have owned for 54 years. My wife and sons mow their lawns, but Mom can still do a good job of taking care of the house and Dad. We will probably go over there and visit for a while this evening. They will probably go to their favorite place for lunch today - Burger King!

This morning I am going to try and trim the yards. Not an easy task given my spinal problems, but I'm going to give it a try. I have a good light-weight electric trimmer and we purchased a strap to help me hold it. T-storms coming in for this evening, then it gets colder here in WNY for the weekend.

Have a blessed and fantastic Friday!

WOW, 55 years is something to be proud of!! Thank God your wife never had to experience the all to common "divorce" that so many from her time began to experience. That is so refreshing to hear that they made it 55 yrs. I can't get over it :) I wish my husband and I had met earlier so we could make that sort of milestone, but you know, you learn to appreciate what you have and realize it may not always be there.

I hope you didn't overdue it trimming the yard today, Dave. I think you are like me in that when pain levels are down you look at the yard and say to yourself, "what can I finally get out there and do now." I was there this past monday and ended up mowing 3/4 of our spacious lawn. My husband had not see me do anything of the sort in years, but a great PT session lead to a level 4 pain-wise which meant I was on a mission! I paid for it the following 2 days, but it was worth it to see the result, say I did it, and smell that fresh cut grass that I was responsible for...creepy, I know. But you have to get your kicks somewhere and sometime, I just chose that day -- by mistake.

Great to hear from you again, take care, B
