    Methadone for Pain

I have been on methadone for chronic back pain for the last 3 yrs. It does help my pain but I am very concerned that if something were to happen to me, say an accident, how would they control my pain? I really want to change to something else but I'm scared to death about having to go off of it. Has anyone else had to deal with anything like this before?
