2 year old spitting up A LOT
    An_222752 posted:
My 2 year old is spitting up 30 - 40 times a day. When he was an infant he did have reflux and spit up a lot. The frequency seemed to drop off around 12 months and re-emerged around 18 months. Pediatrician did an upper GI test (barium and x-ray) in August and determined there was no apparent physical anormality. At the time he was spitting up 10-15 times per day. Pediatrician perscribed Prevacid solutabs 15mg which did help for a while but did not stop the spitting up entirely. For past 3 weeks we have been trying a generic verision of the Prevacid and the spitting up has spiked to 30 40 times per day. We are going back to Prevacid right away but this makes me wonder if the medication isn't masking a more serious issue or if we should see a specialist? We have reduced dairy products at the doctors recommendation and only use soy milk now. There are no food allergies that we have been able to indentify. From everything I have read this seems unusual for a 30 month old kid.
Has anyone else experienced this with a child of this age?

I have no experience with this, but if I were you, I would head back to the doctor immediately. Ask for a referral to a specialist and be proactive about getting to the root of the problem.

My son is 2 years old and has the same symptoms. I wonder if the medicine is making him worse. It seems like he spits up soon after I give him the medicine. I've noticed he will spit up 20-30 times per day for a couple of weeks and then it decreases for a about a 1 1/2 months and then comes back. Have you found anything out?

I know you posted this a long time ago, did you ever get a resolution? This is currently happening to my son, along with some other developmental delays and I'm becoming VERY concerned. Can't get a dr to really listen to me.
