My son is 2 1/2 years old. I always want to do arts and crafts with him but I ran out of ideas. Can anyone help me with a lot of ideas? Holiday arts and crafts and regular day arts and crafts. I can go buy all the stuff if needed.. Thanks everyone

My daughter generally likes the brown paper bag. We get a pack for like a dollar then make hand puppets with them. You can put hair with yarn or google eyes or just draw with colors. She really likes that she can do it too.

try making picture frames with popsicle sticks and decorating with stickers or masks out of paper plates. There are different websites with lots of kids crafts. Try googling it! lol... Wish I had more ideas. Let me know if anything really interests him. I have a 2 year old son and I've been trying to find things that would constructively occupy some of his time.

painting w/ glue and pasting tissue paper, or collages. Painting w/ matchbox cars to make tracks. Draw marker on coffee filter and mist w/ water to make tie dye and use clothes clip to make butter fly?

practice cutting w/ scissors always a hit!

egg carton bugs etc. Can you tell my kids like that stuff! Made it easy when I opened a home daycare! lol

We are huge art fans at my house!!!

I try to get new ideas from the holidays as you had posted here. At our house, we have a small blooming tree that stays indoors and is decorated for every occasion imaginable. We put different strands of lights, make ornaments out of all sorts of things and my daughter put colored shells and rocks at the bottom of the plant as well.

We also do collages with magazines where we take different parts of faces and glue them together to make our own creations. I have also dedicated our laundry room and door to the pantry to showing recent artwork and switch it out according to what my daughter thinks should go up.

For fast, easy and clean fun a paint brush, glass of water and chalk board are a great hit for 2 year olds. They can paint the board and it quickly dries for continuous designing without a mess.
Best Wishes! Amelia

We also love to do arts and crafts, and here is a great website to check out for ideas and templates that you can print out:

http://www.dltk-kids.com/

They even give ages that each of the crafts would be good to do for. I use this website several times a month and have gotten some really cute craft ideas off of it!

We've mostly just done "free" art so far, like painting, coloring, and collages (I love seeing what she picks out of magazines to put on her collages), with the exception of a turkey at t-giving and a tree with ornaments that she could glue on for x-mas. I love that website for more structured ideas. Thanks!

I love your idea of letting her pick pictures out of a magazine to make a collage, I don't know why I never thought of that! We will definitely be doing some of that this weekend! Thanks for the great idea!

It's totally fun! The latest was mickey mouse, an apple, a zebra print chair, and a little girl with long brown hair. Too cute!!

Do you let her cut them out using kids scissors yet? I haven't gotten Ava a pair yet, but I'm begin to wonder whether she might be old enough to start learning with the safety scissors

No, we don't have any kids scissors yet, either. I've been too chicken to get some, but it's not like she could really get hurt. We should try it...I'd also be kind of nervous that she wouldn't really be able to work them though, and get mad. She's that kind of kid.
