My son's stool is red, but is it blood?

My 3 1/2 year old son has a stomach bug that's been going around pre-school and has been going "potty" every hour and half. He doesn't have much stool at all, and when we wipe, it's red. It's not thick like blood; it's thin, almost like food coloring. He hasn't eaten anything to make his stool red. Just curious if any of you have had this same problem.

I suppose he could be irritaed "down there" due to all the wiping. Has he been on an antibiotic? Sometimes antibiotics cause bloody diarrhea. If it presists or gets worse it may not hurt to call the pedi.
