DHs unemployment is set to run out in 4 weeks. We are in full on panic mode.

He has been unemployed for 3 years. He's applied and interviewed for countless jobs. He is at an all time low and feels like a failure. He's been offered jobs but they don't pay enough.

DD will have to go to daycare fulltime and DS only goes to 1/2 day kindergarten so he would need before and after care.

It's so awful to feel this way right before Christmas. I'm sick to my stomach and just feel like crying all day. In the past 3 years we've borrowed money from family and friends. Neither of our families are well off and struggling as well.

We had a huge blow out fight last night and I just don't know what to do anymore. I have all the paper work to file for bankruptcy but it's going to cost us $900 to do this. How can I pay that when we have no money?!?!?

Just needed to vent. Thank you for listening.

Oh, Laney, I'm sorry to hear this, it makes me feel sick to my stomach too. I was right there with you a few years ago...and the panic and stress is unbelievable. My DH was so down he was impossible to live with and impossible to is so hard. I wish there was some way I could help you guys out.

What does your DH do? Does he have any prospects right now, even jobs that may not be ideal? Is there any way we can help with things you need? A wish list or something?

Laney, I'm so sorry! Has your husband checked out the local home improvement stores or anything like that? It stinks but my DH worked at Lowe's at night (FT at night) while he worked on getting his business off the ground. Not sure if there is a Lowe's where you live. But he worked a 10pm to 6am shift loading the delivery trucks for the next day.

But I know it's a hard conversation to have.....

Thank you all so much. I'm struggling to keep my composure at work and not break down after reading your kind repsonses.

It's comforting to know there are wonderful people out there. As much I appreciate all your offers I wouldn't even know where to begin and I would feel guilty knowing I can't reciprocate.

DH hasn't taken anything like retail yet b/c he's been making more on unemployment. He will be making the trek out this weekend though and applying to all the local places including Home Depot and Lowes. We would love if he got a job anywhere at night. That would be perfect. He does have a couple prospects that he just applied for and we are praying every second that he's offered something.

(((HUGS))) to you and your DH.

If you're comfortable sharing, let us know where you live and a little bit about DH's interests.

You never know where a job lead will come from!

    Laney0705 replied to Haylen_WebMD_Staff's response:
We live in Graham, WA it's about an hour south of Seattle.

He has worked in a warehouse for the past 12 years. Prior to that he was a cook for a hotel, a restaurant and a hospital (not all at the same time). All the warehouse jobs that he's being offered are only paying about $10-12 an hour. If it was night shift that would be ok but that wouldn't even cover the cost of day care for a FT day shift position. However at this point I guess he'll take anything.

(((HUGS))) It is very stressful to be unemployed, especially for men who feel that their main job is to financially support the family. I hope your husband finds something soon.

Please vent whenever you need it and know that others are willing to help.

I know it's hard but try to find some joy during the Christmas season. You have each other and your health, you are luckier than a lot of people., even if it doesn't feel that way!
