Mega Millions - half a billion dollars!

I am not 100% sure which states this game is in but could you imagine winning $500,000,000?! What would you do with that kind of money?

I would buy a house...a normalish house though. I would like a 5 bedroom, 3 bath house with a nice yard and all that good stuff. Top of the line everything. I would hire a cleaning company to come once a week. I don't need anything too crazy....nothing to lose my kids in.

I would set money aside for my kids college and their future. I would put money in an account for my neice and nephew for college. I'd help out family members, buy a new car, and adopt a baby since I couldn't have any more kids. Oh yeah and definitely be a stay at home mom!

Holy cow. I don't believe in wasting money on these things but a buck or two suddenly does not sound so bad. It's hard to even fathom that much money. I wonder how much the government would walk away with?

You know me, I'd invest most of it for a rainy day. I'd buy my MIL anything she needed to have a better life. (She is bedridden). I'd pull the kids from school and travel for a year. Maybe start another family business. Maybe stop shopping at thrift stores lol.

It's a hard question. I'd buy a few apartmentsor houses in my favorite places around the world for vacation purposes. I'd given some to family, but honestly other than that I don't know what I'd do.
But really, the truth is, I could do whatever I wanted and it's a problem I would LOVE have!!!

Gotta get my tickets!

I would pay off all my bills, finish fixing up my house and yard, set money aside for the kids' education, travel as much as possible, then put some aside for my and my DH's future. I would also quit my full-time job and probably get a job that's part-time or seasonal or maybe even volunteer someplace. I would also hire a maid/cleaning service to come once a week.

If I had that kind of money I would hire someone to do the laundry and clean the house.

Other than that I don't know but it is a problem I would love to have.

Does anyone know when the drawings are? I haven't bought a lottery ticket in years.

Those 10 second-place tickets sold in New York for Tuesday's drawing matched all five numbers, but not the Mega Ball. Other second-place tickets were sold in California, Colorado , Illinois , Maryland , Michigan , Missouri , Montana , North Carolina , New Jersey , Ohio , Pennsylvania , South Carolina , Texas , Virginia , Washington and West Virginia .

Here are just some states....I can't open the websites other than this one and the news haha!

Oh, it's in California! And the only reason I knew is because yesterday at lunch there was a line out the door at the ghetto liquor store down the street.

Of course, I jumped in line and waited 15 minutes only to be told "cash only for lottery tickets"

My bff and I went into fantasy land...WHAT IF?!?! We decided we would be on a private plane to Maui first thing...then we'd look for a financial planner and an attorney

I just "liked" the California Lottery on Facebook and here's how they said the $$$ would break out:

You have 2 choices for the money - lump or payments:

  • Lump sum cash would be $359.4 million.
  • Annual payments would be 26 payments of roughly $19 million per year.

we would move back to NJ to be closer to our families. I would buy a house that had a MIL suite so my mom could move in with us . I'd buy her a brand new car (she's never had one). I would put money in trust funds for all our neices and nephews.

take huge family vacations every year and pay for everyone so they don't have to worry about it.

My brother runs a soup kitchen so I'd love to expand it and open a "Soul Kitchen" type place that Jon Bon Jovi has.

I'm not really thinkint to much about it....LOL!!! We'll buy $10 worth and keep our fingers crossed.

I bought my tickets on the way to work....haha. Fingers crossed.

DF would love to own lots of land. Like a large ranch out west or something to that effect. But first and foremost, I'd like to get married! Then we can pick out some property. Haha. I'd make it possible for my dad to retire and live out with us if he'd like. He's very much an outdoors, hands dirty kind of person. I'd make large accounts for our children and retimement for ourselves. I'd pay off DF's mother/stepdads debts and make them comfortable. They do so much for us. Pay off the business loans for DF's business. Practical things. And then of course I'd like a nice long tropical vacation.....a girl can dream

I truly can't imagine exactly how much money this is!!! I work in Administration at our hospital and one of our docs said it best when he said buying a lottery ticket is the cheapest vacation you can take. You pay $1 for ticket and you dream all day and night on what you would do. Of course that dream is smashed once you loose, but it's so fun to wish!!

Of course I would pay off our debts and set a huge amount asied for our children. We have some family members going through a rough patch with health issues so we take their money burdens away. I wouldn't donate to a charity because after a few personal experiences I'm not comfortable giving my money to a stranger and it not being used the way I was told. So I would just randomly pick people to help out. Or at least I think that's what I'd do. And then we would just live!!!

I have been thinking about this all day. I am in with 10 other girls at work and I plan to buy $10 worth of my own tickets on my way home tonight. The jackpot is up to $640,000,000 from tickets sales today, the cash payout is $462,000,000. I know the first thing I would do is quit my job. I would buy new houses for my family, my parents and my inlaws. I would invest allot of money. I would set up college funds for DD, DSS and the new baby on the way and also my neices and nephews. I would help my brother/sisters and brother-in-laws/sister-in-laws out with finances. I would travel. And I would have lots more babies!!
